LS/VTEC Setup
whats up folks...let me cut to the chase.i have a 95 ls motor which im pulling out of my car and basically i was wondering what do i need exactly to run a healthy ls/v setup???i know i need a vtec head but the rest i dont have a clue..thanks for any feedback!!!
golden eagle makes a kit so that you don't have to drill for a new oil line( i'm not sure if it eliminates all drilling but a lot of people use the kit for ls/vtec). that should be on your list.
you can always find a b16 head for about $500 or so. i would go w/ b18c1 head and get a intake manifold w/ chiped ecu tuned to have 1 hard vtec kick. thats how my friends setup was and he would pull on itr's,rsx-s all day long before his car got jacked.

im working on piecing together my lsvtec.. search really isnt THAT helpful, theres a lot of threads but not a lot of info. I had a few question, might as well try them out here:
same question as the poster above me, will the stock LS header work on a gsr head?
and does anyone have a link or any info on the wiring? im obd2
also, throttle bodys.. the head im buying doesnt come with a TB, can I use my stock LS one? (probably not) if not, is there a good aftermarket TB or should i just look for a stock gsr one?

I had a built ls/vtec in my eg6 hatch, monster! before i traded it for a DC2
...i suggest b16 head, though its lower compression then the gsr head, but you can up the compression with pp, cams,..etc, but either way you cant go wrong...make sure you have someone to help you that is experienced with ls/vtec builds, and has put one together very successfully. research more..theres a lot more then you think then slapping a vtec head on a block and calling it a day...take your time with it, don't rush or take short cuts..it will bite you in the *** when you have to rebuild because of low or no oil pressure. Look for people here on H-T that have LS/VTEC setups and compare on what they use and how reliable it has been for them. GL!

vtec head, golden eagle vtec conversion kit, and to be on the safe side, arp headstuds. Just dont revv too high and be stupid and spin a bearing, or else you should be good.

that one made me do a double take
the golden eagle kit is what we're using...the only thing you have to do is tap an extra port in the head and they give you the tools for it in the kit...golden eagle says on their site "you can do this in your driveway" alot easier and cheaper than taking it to a machine shop.

port n polish and cams dont add compression. pistons and valves do though.
to the OP, you dont have to buy the golden eagle kit. u can piece it together for way cheaper. on my b20/vtec i pieced it together and spent about half of what the kit costs. also, u dont need the oil pump but u need the vtec water pump (dont quote me on that cant remember for sure) but i believe the vtec and non vtec oil pump are same part #. also, arp rod bolt are highly recommended. the link i provided u should tell u everything u need to know.
and to some of u frequent integra forum visitors, please stop putting misinformation out there. if u dont know for sure what ur talking about DONT POST. noobs get misinformation and then wonder why they get flamed when they post some stupid ****. have a nice day

ARP rod bolts for sure. Might as well get eagle rods while your at it.
All the oil pumps are the same from 96+. vtec, non-vtec dont matter.
Golden eagle ls/v kit would be quick and easy.
ARP headstuds.

i havent dyno'd it yet, but it seems pretty reliable. i changed oil 500 miles after i finished the swap, and no metal shavings or anything floating around. i'm waiting a little bit more miles to break it in before i start going all out on it. when i get it dyno'd i'll let you know the results.
