Default LS/VTEC Question

Is this just an LS engine with a VTEC head, if not what is it then? How much does a VTECH head cost? And how much would it cost to have it put on an LS block? Do you have to change the internals or anything?
Also, does anybody know approxiamately how much it would cost to change my whole interior to black?

for one its spelt vtec. But if you wanted to do it right you would swap pistons for maybe Type R, CTR, or some other h/c pistons and i would say better rods. Then a B16(SI) head would cost 1100 brand new. I dont know how much for labor to put the pistons, rods, and head on...hope this helps...

you can usually find a b16 head, or b18c head on here for about 500 or so, to have it done right and properly put on i would guess about 1500-2 grand to do it right including the price of the head at the shop

LS/VTEC is a cheap way to make your car fast. You already have the bottom end. If you were to do it though, make sure it gets done right. You need to have the head milled to fit the block and you have to have the correct oil galleys to engage VTEC. But if you take it to a shop, they will know that. Go with a B16 head because it will raise your compression. Type R internals and cams also go nicely with an LS/VTEC. CTR intake cam and ITR exhaust cam (the CTR intake cam is bigger).

now i dont know a whole lot about vtec heads, being non-vtec and all...but I thought a gsr head would raise the compression .2 over a b16 head because of the smaller combustion chamber that is has...

could you change the head and not swap the internals? I know the LS has a strong bottom end and I would think it would hold up just fine.

I think the word you're looking for is spelled

Yeah VTEC heads can be had for around 400-500, if you look around in the classifieds I'm sure you can find a few B16 heads for sale.
For the most out of the set-up, it would be wise to swap in some PR3/p30,ITR, or PCT pistons and ARP rod bolts. If you stick with stock pistons it will be pretty low compression and gains will not be as dramatic..... that is unless you're going to boost.

That would be a waste of money.

Not to be mean or anything...but there is a SEARCH in Honda-Tech ..theres about 14 theads a week about it...

oh yeah... yes, LSvtec is just a LS block with a VTEC head. you can run it with everything internaly stock...soo the only things that you will need to get it running is the LS block, VTEC head, 'LSvtec oil line' conversion, VTEC ECU...and the vtec tranny you can get later...
..and dont forget about your gaskets, oil and coolent...

i also have a question about ls/vtec. my friend has it on his car and when i dirve it i can not feel the vetc kick in like on the gsr. i was wondering if that is normal or is it just because he did it his self and did not do it right. do good ls/vtecs feel like a gsr or more like a ex civic.

At 5300 rpms (vtec) my tires break loose. 8 psi is wonderful. Seriously though, if the electrical is hooked up correctly and there are no codes, then the vtec will activate.

So for high compression, I would need to get new internals too? Why would I need to get a vtec tranny? Would it just be better to get a vtec engine than just a vtec head? And if I got a vtec head, when I got an intake and headers/exhaust, would I get the non-vtec stuff or the vtec stuff?
