well here the background info is.... i have a 1990 integra DA that i got back in 2008 from an impound lot. it had 198,xxx;xxx miles on it and now has 220;xxx;xxx on the bone stock b18a1. i have put lots of mods on it and now im planing on building a motor for it. i was thinking of a b20 vtec. but here is the thing, my b18a1 runs good still. it does not throw out any smoke of any color and when i smoged it the first time(California) it ran perfect numbers. the smog tech even offered to buy the car off of me. the car has never gave me a real problem beside the starter, water pump and alternator going out. when i was changing the water pump i noticed that the timing belt was not the oem one and it had about 90% of the life left on the teeth. so this shows me that the previous owner did some kind of maintenance to it. when i take the valve cover off everything looks good and the oil flow to the head looks fine. also the AC has been retro fitted to r194 from r12 (not by me) so that is also evidence to help prove it was maintained well. other then that i do not know nothing about how the car before i owned it. i have alwas speculated that that motor was rebuilt at one time but IDK

here is my question.... i just bought a Gsr head and was wondering should i risk using my stock b18a1 and do an ls vtec or go with the b20? in thie economy money is not like it used to be and i could use the 650 for the b20 for other things if possible. also is there any way you can tell if a motor has been rebuilt with out taking it apart? because i do not wanna boost a 200;xxx;xxx mile motor unless it has been rebuilt. plz help.

you could just do a mild rebuild to be sure but I dont see why you couldnt put a gsr head on
