Default ls vtec

i just have a quick question because i was wondering...i fried the rings in my gsr block so i just took the motor out and i have a b18a1 block that i got from a guy who planned to build it but never did...and also the ls block is fully assembled so i will be using the complete bottom end my question is will the ls with my gsr head(and yes i got the golden eagle converstion kit for the head) will this motor be more powerfull...and yes i know about tuning it...cuz that is where i messed up in the first place...i have a fmu and not big enough injectors=ten pounds...and that is how the rings got fried...so in all with the ls have more power at just 5 pounds than the gsr bottom end...(and no i didnt get arp head studs or rod bolts so i know i can only take it to seven instead of 8 thousand rpm...

A) You can fry metal rings? Does that involve a skillet or a deep fat fryer?
B) Good luck on getting the smaller LS rod bolts to hold up under higher hp levels
C) "i have a fmu and not big enough injectors=ten pounds." So you have 10lb injectors? FMU and small injectors dont equal boost....thats what a turbo does.
D) Assuming you mean that FMU + small injectors + 10lbs of boost = fried rings, the LS/vtec at 5lbs of boost will not make as much power as the GSR at 10.
E) I think the best idea would be to spend $100 on new rings. Hone the engine and install them.

alright first of all 10 pounds did mean that i have a turbo on it and i still have the stock injectors and i was saying that i leaned it out and it ruined the rings and i know it wont make the same power as the gsr at ten...i meant if the gsr was at 5 pounds and the ls five pounds...what would make more power...and i have heard of a lot of people getting 300hp out of ls blocks with the right tuning...so question both motors at 5 pounds do you think the gsr will still be a little more powerfull or not by much

Under boost the GSR and LS seem to put down about the same amt of hp on the same amt of boost (same turbo, etc). The LS will have more torque but the GSR makes a little more top end power. Roughly the power will be the same....which at 5psi will probably be around 220whp.

hey another question what term do you use for when the rings go...and also with the right tuning how much boost can it push...the turbo was all professionaly installed before i had it by a local performance shop...and then had it at 12 pounds at one point...but i do know they broke something and fixed it but in all at 5 pounds it was still pretty reliable

I suppose fry is as good as any. Generally you just say that your rings are worn (cylinder walls are glazed over or have no cross-hatching left). Ofcourse a compression check is the most useful way of telling if that is true or not. Boost pressure depends on the size turbo you're running. I've seen people run 300whp on a stock GSR block pretty reliably, I've heard of more then that but never seen it. The LS has lower compression but really is probably in that same range. Ofcourse thats will good tuning, with fair tuning I would say around 7-10psi and 230-270whp range.
