LS/VTEC is not reliable even though properly tune it will haul ***. It will only give you major headaches. A buddy of mine has LS/VTEC it was fine for 10k miles but now it is starting to leak oil. Trust me LS/VTEC will not last that long. Stick to GSR motors , that is the best bet right now.

Don't listen to the guy above...If you done your search correct you'll see the things that need to be done, so I will not touch that. I will simply answer what was stated on your post with my expierance! I have a 99 LS, that had 100k on it about 2yrs ago, I wanted more power so I did the LSV..I did gain noticable HP with stock LS internals. But I would upgrade your block, rods and crank balancing, arp bolts should be good. I now have 150K on my LS block and the head has about 120k. and runs really good no problems at all, normal maintance done. I used an ITR head, that doesn't you have to, I am sure a B16, a GSR is just as fine...GL on your swap...

BTW, replacing your head and modifying the car beyond its stock specs (ie, you put a new head on with god knows what else) is not "normal maintence". Whats up with the ls/vtec questions.....i mean, its like the most covered topic ever.

it seems pretty obvious that he meant normal maintence as far as oil changes ect.... changing your head to a vtec head is not and will never be maintence its a modification.

Yea, i get that, but Im saying that he's saying that the block and head have XXXXXX miles on them and are still running great in the ls/vtec and Im saying that even if the head/block do have that many miles on them, it doesnt really count if you put a new head gasket on (with the ls/vtec), replaced most of the seals, etc.....ie, crap that isnt normal maintence and is more so done with major engine work.
