Default LS Upgrades

I was considering buying the Crower 404 cams, the spirngs and retaniers. With some cam gears, and some time on the dyno, how much whp should I expect? Also, what effects, or performance benefits would a stroker kit from Corwer give to my B18B engine? I was thinking it would give more low end torque because it increases displacement, but I'm not sure. Also, with the addition of these cams, it would probably be wise to get an exhaust, I wanted to get a custom made system, but was size piping should I use? I know 3" is for turbo, but should I use 2.5" or 2.25? I was planning on using a Magnaflow muffler. Any help would be appreciated, thanks Jason.

2.25 exhaust is perfect, i'm not sure but you might lose some low end with a 2.5. As for the 404's go for it, its the next mod on my list. While the head is apart you should have your head ported and polished, if you just drop it in you will probably see around 140hp to 145hp and 125torque but that is if you have some bolt on's to help. Take a look at my setup and the hp #'s that will give you an idea where to start

1QWKGS: Did you get a valve job too? What is your best 1/4 ET or trap speed? Thanks

Did you get a 3-angle or 5-angle valve job done?

I'll avoid trying to make myself sound like a master mechanic, because I'm far from one. But from what I've heard, and in non-technical terms, the Crower stroker kit is a bad idea.

In a nutshell, you'll end up with about the same displacement as a B20, but you won't have the build quality or reliability of a factory Honda motor. And I think you'll even end up paying more in the long run for the stroker kit than you would a good, old-fashioned engine swap.

If you want more displacement, go for a B20 and build it up.

for exhaust, i'm using a catback from a 2001 itr. i've tried 3 different exhaust and this is the one i like. not too noticeable...quiet when you are cruising but sounds good at wot...

With the 404's I have heard about lumpy idle. What exactly does this mean? Does it mean that my tach willl idle from 500 to 2000 RPM inconsistetly? Or does it just mean my car will have that "lug-lug-lug" type sound at idle? Thanks, Jason.

Word of advise. Dont try to make an All motor LS. Its VERY hard. I tried it, I have a good amount of power but not work the $$$$!!! Get a SI head, and make a LS/VTEC or something.

I have heard that before as well. How much will it cost to get the LS/VTEC installed with all necesary parts in my 98 LS? Thanks, Jason.

Head (complete) (800)
ITR pistons (300)
Oil lines and fittings (75)
ECU or VAFC (300)

Install ???......you do the math

If you want to make your car fast, If I was you, I would cut your losses, sell it and buy a GSR. (my opinion, I have gone far down the LS allmotor path, so dont flame me)
