Default LS....Random idea..

Been doing some reading, but nothing that clearly states a FELT gain but...

Has anyone ever put..

GSR Pistons/LS Block/LS Rods/ LS Crank?

B16 Pistons/LS Block/LS Rods/ LS Crank?

I've read that it bumps compression, and on the b16 you have to run bigger rings, but are the gains feasble enough for this to be attempted and made worth while?

I have PR3's(USDM B16) pistons, LS rod, crank, block etc. and a P8R head. I got a tune this friday. Its not what you feel, or felt, its all about gains. NO< NOT ON BUTT TORQUE. I guess it really depends on your budget, and what you want to build.

Well I didn't want to build it up..I have an LS/V-T already running, but i've gone D15dpfi--->Mini Me (D15/z6 head)------>now LS in my Beater and I just wanted to give it some pep, bump the compression some. It has an H22 Throttle Body with a port matched Intake Manifold, DC-Sport header, AEM Cold Air Intake, Flow Master piping 3", resonator, nice tune out back, Stage II Clutch, 10lb flywheel. I have some B16 and GSR pistons hanging around..figured I could put either to use. Wish I had CTR's...know for a fact i'd see something with those in.

Basically wanna Poor Mans Compression bump...was gonna try B16 Pistons w/Thin Head gasket and Pray for 11:1 compression.

B18A - Block

+

B18A - Rods

+

B18A -Crank

+

B18A - Head

+

JDM B16B Pistons

+

1-Layer OEM Head Gasket =

13:1-14:1 CR LS Non Vtec Assembly...

I could rock with that, it'll make close to b16 HP numbers at that compression.

b16 HP + B18 Torque = Fun Daily Driver.

I know...I'm not a big fan of the CTR's but i'd be lying if I said they don't have impressive results when done right.

What happened when u put them in ur GSR, compression killed it?

to much compression. i ran s2 s2 cams, full valve train, head work, etc full build basically. Had CTR pistons on ITR rods and ITR balanced crank. dynoed 215 whp and tuned on crome. Then dynoed 262whp on a 55 dry shot. compression ended up being 13:6:1 after everything. and the pistons just fryed my valves..way to much compression..not high enough octane. dont do it. You would have to run race gas for all that compression. and some big *** cams. if you just through ctr piston in you would lose power. I put jdm ITRs in when my bottom end took a **** and started burning oil one time and it made my car slower!..went from 10:1 comp to 11:2:1 comp..slower!

True, good point, I've compression killed a block or two on the road of knowledge and discovery, I should know better but I dunno..I just want to be the guy around here with a stock LS..not to much done to it..but it hauls.

If I could land 11-12 on compression though I'd be happy. Plus i'm trying to do this with spare parts I have hanging around.

I have..

ITR Camshafts --- But I can't use them in a stock LS
CTR Pistons ---- Could use em but probably with bad results
ITR Rods --- Don't see the sense in using them without a good piston on top.
b16 pistons -- COULD use these...
GSR Pistons - COULD use these..

Dunno...I don't wanna put a vtec head on it..if I do it..I'ma be repeating I've got an LS-V/T and a LS-V/All motor already, and I know myself..I put a head on this thing and i'ma go ***** in.

Right now i'm thinking B16 Pistons/Bigger Rings/Thinner head gasket.
