LS, GS compression
well here is the thing i have 94-01 b18b block with internals from a gs and a 93 head and the car feels like it should pull a lot harder than what it does so im thinking maybe ls and gs have different compression i have a 95 hatchback

well i should start with the 93 is a B18B and not a B18A which is found in a 1990 and 1991 teg, but if it were a B18A head that would be the reason for your loss in power since they are a slight bit difference (130hp on a B18A and 142hp on a B18B and the difference of the 2 is in the heads) , the cams are for one does not have as big of lift on them as the B18B cams... and it is also OBD0 rather than OBD1 so you would have had to convert the dist. to the OBD1 plugs. but this is where i am not sure, i do believe though you would have just been able to use a B18B dist. though and not have to convert the plugs obviously...
since you recently pulled your head and looking for more of a "pull" should look into a B16 trans
