i got a good ol 90 LS and i love it and im starting to invest in performance parts... i did the i/h/e and i feel a sweet power difference, but i always think about that damn VTEC (i wish i had a VTEC)... is it a joke for me to be investing in my LS? can it ever compete with a GS-R?

 

absolutly, this is coming from experience..

i ran a 15.2 in my ls and beat or even with most slightly modded gsr's. Its not that hard to do. Just time and effort, not to mention money..

BTW Its not (A VTEC), unless you are talking about a vtec equpped car in general...

 

what were your mods on the 15.2 [ out of curiousity]

 

Just do your homework on what parts are benificial to ls motors and build one. Its plenty worth it and not to mention fun as hell to beat cars equipped with higher powered motors. Good luck

im a newb to all of u so i ask a lot of newb questions: yea... what kinda stuff can i do that could bump me up to 170hp?? w/o doing a turbo bc i dont think they have good ones for a 90 LS. im up for anything else though.

port and polish, higher lift cams w/new valve springs and retainers, new i-manifold, adjustable cam gears, with good tuning that should probably get you around 170

 

i was thinking about some motor mount inserts...do they really do all that much???

 

yep, launched @ 5k w/o wheel hop and a 2.244 60', they do help a good amount..

 

If you want to do an LS build, search around there is alot out there. Also check out http://www.nonvtec.com, you can find a lot there too.

And yes it is fun to have a 170 whp nonvtec motor and no one thinks twice about it until you beat them and then they want to know how much you are spraying!

Look around LS parts are cheap.
