Default lowering spring problems...

Alright, I lowered my friend's car right, but when we dropped it, and while he turns, there's this weird snap of the spring. He's fastened all the bolts and all that other ****. Is it because he has to break it in or something? I just want to know if it's normal or not. Thanks for any input guys. HT = Great place for knowledge.

is it in the back of the car or the front?

When I got my sportlines I noticed my car would do that..it went away after some wd40 and a couple hours of driving. (It was the back btw)...good luck..

rubbing isnt good...could be the wheel hitting the springs??

Well if its doing that than I would guess tire rubbing the fender well. It's the most common when vehicles are lowered too much. Also sometimes when a vehicle is lowered by just springs sometimes you hear a loud snap sound because the spring wasn't seated all the way against the pillow ball upper mount. Common no worry. Also a squeking rubbing sound could be the upper mount gasket worn out or the the springs themselves rubbing together when they compress down when you make your turn.

did u install a camber kit when u lowered his ride? when i dropped my car and installed a set of camber kits (the ingalls style), it moved the upper control arm (UCA) closer to the frame next to the fender. the upper control arm was resting right below the frame and when i took it for a drive and hit a small pot hole, i heard a loud metal banging sound. the sound came from the upper control arm hitting the frame and denting it a little bit. no serious damage was done though, just a little dent. i apparently put too must postive camber which pushed the UCA closer to the fender. i just adjusted the camber kit to give it less positive camber and it stopped the problem.

if u dindt have a camber kit installed then i dont know. did ur friend buy a cheap camber coilover setup? maybe thats the culprit

the wheel hitting the spring?????? damn, if that happens then ur car must be dropped like over 3 inches. i dont think the wheel could hit the spring.....

it couldn't have been lowered that much, they're sport H&R springs... even the fools at Super VIP said it wouldn't make that much of a difference in lowering and it shouldn't be any problem either..
