lower portion of rad keeps steaming.
I know this sounds dumb lol but finally got my engine in the car and did the first start up went first go !!. only thing now is the lower right(just above the drain plug) of the rad is giving off a fair bit of steam, the car is not getting very hot at all which I'm not complaining about even tho it's winter. The rad is from 1994 afaik lol I don't have 300$+ to get a fancy mishimoto rad and on race days I'd always just run water and no t stat(track car) the water would get drained before we trailered it home and refilled with proper coolant. so what are my options ? the rad cap seems a little loose so I may go get a new one in the chance it's leaking coolant down. I was very careful when I stored the rad when messing with the engine the car has NEVER overheated in my ownership but I guess things get old....any of you still running your OG OEM rads ?
hmmm ok^ will go to part-source and ask thought they'd be 200 or so I asked at the dealer also and that's what I was looking at.
Common problem, the lower tank is leaking at the "crimps".
There is a tool to re-crimp, but a good set of needle nose ViceGrips will also work. 94

if it's the original rad the upper tanks were garbage. tsb was issued.
mine burst about 13 years ago. upper rad hoses were bad news too.

I'm surprised mine has lasted this long lol at least I'm pretty sure it's from 1994. forgot to ask at part source today, may get a BWR racing one one after xmas when I have a bit more money
ha yes the original rad fan motors were junk too unlike the a/c fan motors
so you can look forward to replacing that also if you havent.
why they used two different motors is beyond me. replaced mine with an a/c type like this:
