When I priced a chipped key at Honda it was $55 cut for the immobilized key.

call your dealership.
call your dealership.
you dont need to go and do any of that ****...if you want take out your ignition and go to a locksmith...tell them you lost your key and they'll cut one for you...then go to the delaership and ask to get an oem honda key kut and its like 5 bucks...i dunno about the remote..

if you can bring your vin number and the title of the car to the dealership, they can do a vin key cut for you. and they just charge you the normal key price. usually it's 7-10 bucks for a regular key. an immobilizer t5 key is 100 bucks. (i got mine for 10, employee price rocks
)
unfortuntely, sometimes the key ignition thing gets worn out and the new key doesn't match it anymore. haha so sometimes vin key cut isn't the best, but it'll usually work.
as for the remote, if you don't want to buy it from the dealership, check ebay. remotes have serial numbers on the back of them for certain years, so check on that.

In order to copy a key that has a chip, you can't use a simple blank key. It will only open the doors and once you turn the ignition, nothing will happen. By the sound of it, he will be paying quite a bit, unfortunately. As far as I know, chipped keys can only be found at the dealerships.
