Lo jack
I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this product?
With all the thefts, I would think that everyone would want this product, yet I don't hear of anyone on the board using it. For the cost of all the alarms, Autolocks, Clubs, etc. you could probably just get Lojack. Even better it would probably help find the source of the problems if we could track them to where there working from. It sounds like most of the cars that are being stolen have many anti-theft devices on them, so most likely there simply being towed away.
Let me know if anyone has used this product or even thought about it.

I have it... got it installed at the dealer when I bought my car. Not sure if it works because my car hasn't gotten stolen
I think you're supposed to get it inspected every so often though, so even if my car gets stolen, I'm not sure if it's working

its of the only stolen but found threads i've seen. from what i remember the car was stolen, and the next morning it was located in a garage with lojack, and only the two front seats had been taken out, this was a few months ago , i dont have the thread, but if/when i move to so-cal, im getting it.

one of the best investments you will ever make for your car.
I've seen too many cars get stollen with DAMN good alarm systems and NO LoJack.
Even if you have it though, your car may get stolen, but it'll be recovered. To some people that means a lot more than just loosing their car. Depending on your insurance situation if you have comprehensive or not.
I also suggest that when they install it. They remove your dash and put the LoJack brain in there. I think they do now adays, but I've really never heard of any case where any car was not recovered when equipped with Lo Jack.

I'm not sure if they really tell you where they will be installing the low jack on your car. The purpose of it is not to know that your car is equipped with low jack. I know that the installer didn't tell me where he installed it on my Evo VIII but I guess will just have to find out how beneficial this Lo Jack is!

the thing with lojack is that it only works when a police car with a lojack transmitter picks up the signal from driving by it. Its not perfect but i have to admit it better than nothing. I wish there was some sort of GPS system available!

LoJack is only worth its value if you have police who know what the hell they are doing!! For instance the 1st time my car was stolen it was found in the the house of the thief while he was pulling of my cylinder head!! It took about 15hrs!! The 2nd time it took almost 2 days and was found in a parking lot pretty fucked up!!

I'm not sure about cost, but its supposedly installed on my car. The previous owner told me it was installed when he bought it, but i never knew how to check or watever. As far as any reoccurring fees, i don't pay any and i don't think there would be because it isnt an ongoin service. Its only used when activated after ur car is stolen. I think there is some website for lojack as well. I can't remember tho...

i got lojack on my car, and my view point is that if someone was going to steal your car, they'd do it. But finding your car and getting your car back is better than nothing...
I have lojack on my gsr. I added it as an option when I bought my car. I was too anxious to wait for them to get it installed, so I first brought the car home, and the next day the lojack guy came to my house to install it!..how convienient!...Anyways, I was trying to watch him install it, but he told me to go inside the house and that I'm not suppose to know where it is...lol. 30minutes later he was all finished...(Btw-your insurance also drops a good 30% after notifiying them that you have lojack on your car...atleast my insurance did..)..good investment....
Just added security that ultimately won't help when some professional low life ***** want it really bad. There is a simple way around low jack.
Also, if they find where the lowjack brain is, they'll just throw it out while your car is being towed or driven away anyways. But I'd assume it does help. Afterall, its better than not having anything.

lo jack works sometimes and it doesn't at others... its a good investment though.. it costs about $500 (at least in 95) for the system and there are no other/recurring fee's... it pretty much pays for itself in a few years though because (at least my insurance company) you get lower rates on your auto insurance... ask your agent if you get a discount... it varies from like 10-30%.. and w/ rates as high as mine were.. even 10% is a big discount...
if you report your car stolen quick.. your chances of getting the car back or in decent shape are increased.. but if lets say its stolen in the morning while your at work.. and you don't discover it gone until after your whole day at work.. a lot could have happened and it could already have been stripped and dumped... so it all depends...
its a good layer.. but like everything.. nothing is fool proof...

out of 5 of my friends who have had their lojack'd cars stolen,
4 were notified (waaay too late, and it was b/c their car was found on the street, not b/c of lojack)
last one, they found the doods R in the thief's garage!!!
lojack works well, depending on how well ur police force works

Can you get LoJack on top of another car alarm? For instance, I have spent quite a bit of money having my ungo alarm + many extras... but for an additional 10% discount on my insurance, I think it's worth it, if it works in conjunction with my other alarm.

It should work with a car alarm. LoJack is a total separate device and has nothing to do with the operation of a car alarm. Even if someone disconnected the battery, a backup battery from the lowjack device will provide power.

Yea I agree it won't prevent your car from being stolen but it sure would be nice to recover the car and maybe even find the ****'s that stole it. I wasn't aware so many peeps are using it. I'm kinda surprised that it isn't GPS related..... So a cop has to drive near where the car is to get a signal? What if the car is taken into a different state? I would think it would be much better to be able track it with some sort of gps system.
Can someone clarify whether the car can still be track in a different state, and whether the police have to be actively looking for a signal?
I live right near NY, but in CT so for this to make sense it would have to work no matter where the car is taken.

It should. LoJack covers 21 states so far based on the majority of theft reports. It should also be tracked on selected counties in your state. Police cars and Police aircrafts are equipped with the Lojack tracking computer device.

I would try a company called http://www.satsecurity.com. I just purshased one for $599 and a fee of 7 to 14 dollars of month for monitoring. Because i see a high theft rate of honda's and stripping and also being a victim i invested. What it does is as soon as you notice your car stolen i call the company and they notified lawenforcement and while they are talking to you they have you car on GPS and what street how fast there going and if you pay extra you can get them to turn off you car with a touch of a button pricee but worth it. You can also tell them when your at home and they set the watchdog mode where if you car moves anywhere out of the 10 foot perimeter surrounding your car they notify the cops and you.

yeah you can... lojack works separate from the alarm so you can have both.. I had LoJack, alarm, twin hooks club, autolock and kill switches... my car didn't get stolen.. but I lost it to a hit and run rear end accident
.. anyways the way I saw it was.. the alarm, club, autolock was for "before the fact".. before they attempt to steal it.. hopefully all the visual and audible deterrants would deter them to pick another car/an easier target... but after they decide to take it.. the kill switch and lojack was my "after the fact" defense....
whether it works or not all depends on how quickly you call it in and how the police dept respond and if they have the equipment (and willing man power) to go look for your car..
