what are the advantages of having a knife edged crank?

the point of it is that its sharp so it cuts though oil better for quicker rotations but theres a debate wheather its worth it cuase it takes of material making it slightly more frail.

i see and micro polished so the oil doesnt get sticky to the crankshaft?

You micropolish the bearing journals, not the counterweights on a crankshaft.

Knife edged cranks were much the craze years ago, but they don't really add much in the way of performance - speaking from experince - or longevity - agin, speaking from experience. Yes, they lower the rotating mass, but a lightweight flywheel can do the same thing for you.

Don't bother with it...
