Keeping Secondaries Open
my friend george has a b18c1 in a civic hatch and he has his secondary intake runners to stay open all the time
is that not a good thing to do because i was wondering if i should do it just let them stay open but im not so sure
im kinda iffy

yah... loosing low-mid... but if they are permanently closed you lose top end
if he has a GSR ecu, you just gotta get them connected...
if not, gotta get one...
normally I think people just get the skunk2 IM tho...

I guess not everyone wants that low end grunt....
maybe you should just take your friends keys from him and not let him drive his car.... and for xmas, buy him a tuner book
or a subscription to the Helm's manuals....

this is like the dumbest thing you can do... you gain nothing from this you only loose low end. its not like you gain any top end.. tell him to buy a skunk2 intake mani and get an r or b16a ecu
I'd say that if you don't know what you're doing, leave it the way it was stock. Because if it came from the factory that way, there's a reason for it..

not quite true as vacuum changes with air pressure. the ecu signals a solenoid and it opens the vacuum line. but you may not need to reprogram ecu for skunk 2 just disconect the solenoid from manifold and put it aside.
