i've got a situation
yea i didn;t kno where else to post this cause they won't let me post in general so anyways i'm still looking for a car, and i think it's either gonna be a 96 GSR (just gotta go take a look at er and go for a rip) or 99ish Civic Si, theres a few i wanna look at, Now the GSR has 158,xxx kms and the Civics are about 115,xxx kms. The price on the GSR is 10,500 while the Si's are about 8,500, thats canadian just incase you were wonderin.
The thing about the gettin the gsr is that if i do then pretty much i'm gonna have little to no money after insurance and taxes and what not but I really love the gsr but i don't know if i wanna throw down all my cash on that and i really don't know if i would want a lesser integra aka non vtec which is why i was lookin at the si's
Now I really would like some input and options for each cars, like performance wise and what u think of my choice of cars and what are the reasons u chose that car, as for the car itself i'm pretty much gonna be usin it as my everday car for now and havin some speed is always nice but i'll prolly slowly be puttin mods into as i go along
I was also wondering how people feel about the Base model integras as well, like the non vtecs

The GSR will outperform the Si. They'll be both just as fun to drive, though.
The GSR's price isn't too great. I'd shop around a little more to get a better price. If you're desparate, get the Si, since that's more in your budget. If I were you, though, I'd get an EK and drop a B16/B18 in it, then do some suspension work. It'll be MUCH more fun than the other two mentioned.

Yes. That is a Civic hatch (96-99?) Although, an EG (92-95?) hatchback might be better for your budget. They're also lighter, I believe. If I didn't get an Integra, I'd have gone with an EK with a B18c swap.
ok what does everyone think about the non vtec integras how r those, and what does DA mean, i see it bein used describin tegs but dunno what that stands for? and how does a base integra compare with an si? also wouldn't the swap route have me payin more? and how hard would the b18c swap be for a civ or a teg?

Both the Si and the GSR are good cars. They are pretty much top of the line of their model class (well except for the Type R's, but we're not talking about them). They usually come fully loaded.
The GSR is faster, the "Acura" is a little more luxurious. I'm not sure about Canadian models, but it might come with leather. Acura, after all, is Honda's "luxury" division.
About the non-Vtec Integras, they are called the Integra RS, LS, or GS. They have slight options differences such as leather, wheels, leather, etc. But they have the same B18B non-Vtec motor. I had one and it was great. Just like the GSR in every way, except for the motor. If you're on a budget, I'd get this one. I'm more of an "Acura" fan than a "Honda" fan.
The non-Vtec Integra has a TINY increase in displacement over the Vtec version. It's minute, but it makes a slight difference if raced in perfect conditions between the same car/driver. The non-Vtec will be ahead until about 3rd gear. That's when the GSR will overtake the non-Vtec car.
The Civic Si should be slightly faster than the non-Vtec Integra. That is to be expected since the Si transmission has very short gears, and thus a much better mechanical advantage. Only downside is the displacement....1.6L as opposed to the Integras' 1.8L.
The DA is the 2nd generation Integra. The ones that most people talk about are the 3rd generations. The DC.
There are some details about things I left out, but I believe that I answered your main points. If you need some more clarification, lemme know.

Just interior stuff.
They vary between the years, but for example:
Body colored moulding/mirrors
Leather
Alloy wheels
Spoiler
Moonroof
etc.....
RS is the lowest, then LS, then GS. After (I think) 1998, they got rid of the LS and only had the RS and the GS. (And of course the GSR and the Type R)

Well, there are many reasons. These are just the main ones...
The Non-Vtec motor (people just call it the LS motor) is quite a bit cheaper than the GSR motor. The compression is slightly lower as well. If you're on a budget and you want to build a fast car, say in a hatch, that's is what you do. You get a hatch, get a full LS swap, and a turbo kit. Slap it on, and you got yourself a fast car.
If you already have a GSR, then you would turbo that. No sense in going down a notch. For low boost settings, the GSR motor will make more power, quite a bit more too. If you want to go all out and build some high power monster, either the LS or the GSR is fine.
The Vtec increase at that point in the power level isn't THAT much. Plus there are a number of things you can do to the LS to make it even faster. Cams, IM, etc.

a car with that much mileage is probably driven hard and has definitely seen better days. You can expect performance to be less than when it first drove off the assembly line. Also likely that maintenance wouldnt be kept up as well given the type of owners for these cars. I'd suggest getting the one you like the most that appears to be less beaten up or better maintained. In most cases the exterior condition shows how much care the owner may have on his/her car. good luck... im selling my integra as well so i know how it feels on the other side of the tracks.
