ive got ignition issues
when i crank the thing it backfires a bit n wont turn on so i figure it might be a problem somewhere in the ignition system. i took the cap off the alternator n the gear that the rotor is connected to has two chipped teeth. i replaced the rotor n now it starts but it wont go passed 32oo rpm in any gear n struggles to stay on. if anybodys dealt with this problem before id really like some advice
So the distributor shaft has 2 chipped teeth? That could be your source of ignition problems. if not, it sounds like your ignition coil is bad. My civic, and both my gsr's did the same thing.
does it make a difference that the coil i have is off a d15? it was fine on that engine n i was driving with it for about 2 weeks before this problem stopped me. also, could i replace the distributor shaft without having to buy the whole distributor?
