Default itr swap problems

I just swapped a 98 spec jdm itr into my 95 gsr. I put a usdm engine wiring harness from a 98 integra ls, and wired vtec manually. I got a ecu jumper so the 0bd2 ecu would work since the car is obd1. The car only starts about 1/2 the time and you can smell gas and it smokes white. The car shakes and when you drive it, if you give it gas, it boggs down. all the obd2 wires from the motor plugged into the 0bd1 car, but is that effecting anything? Any ideas? Thanks

the white smoke sounds like a head gasket.

yeah and the ecu you are using might be bad or something along the lines of that

I tried the gsr ecu and couldn't get it started, put the other one back in and still won't start. haven't got it started since. I think the white smoke is gas cause you can smell gas really bad after you turn the key just once. I checked the timing, and distributor too, i have good spark.

are your injectors leaking? you could be bogging and not starting from lack of fuel. and maybe the white smoke is cause youre running extremely lean? just a thought, but i would def check it out

If it was lack of fuel would it still smell like gas really bad? how do i check to see if the injectors are leaking?

well it would smell like gas really bad because it would be leaking unburnt fuel in your engine bay. look at where the injectors go in and check the o-rings around them with the car running, check to see if any fuel is leaking from around those o-rings, it can be a common problem.

running rich should spit out black smoke I believe.

And with a JDM motor you have to run a JDM ECU, either that or you have to put on a USDM VTEC solenoid.

But sounds like you may have gotten a motor with a blown head gasket. Done any compression or leakdown testing?

If its bogging check the spark plug and the spark plug wires. Regarding the white smoke its usually come and goes away after a couple of runs. In my opinion i think the white smoke appeared due to the fact that the motor might have been sitting down for quiet a long time.

Have you checked the firing order? Double check the wiring as well!

I double checked all the wiring, and hoses. Vacuum lines are all good. Spark is good and firing order is correct. No gas leaks. I am gonna check the head gasket today. Anyone else get a bad motor from hmotorsonline.com? Two of my friends have blown thier motors. One of them was a dumbass and was running a jdm d15b at 9,000rpm though.
