if i got a b18c5r motor and tranny swap, would I have an ITR instead of a GS-R?

that would be a negative. There is more to a ITR than the motor.

He'd still have a GSR though.

Not to mention the actual chassis differences. The ITR has reinforcements in certain locations. Not to mention the rear lower tie bar, the ABS system, the steering rack, etc.

in one simple word, NO! ... I know the ITR through and through, but recently had mine jacked... but honestly, for your car to really be like an R, you may as well buy one, just due to cost. But there is nothing better than showing that DC231 on yer vin and show its a real type-r.

Agreed!
The Type-R will never be duplicated!

even if you replaced everything in your car to stuff from an ITR, the welds in the frame are different and stronger in the ITR, so an ITR is ITR down to the core. here's a list of the other thigns beyond those above i can think of if you want to go all the way:

ITR front strut bar, rear strut bar, rear lower tie, front sway, rear sway, trunk brace, engine, LCAs, front lip (USDM), front end (JDM), fenders w/ sidemarkers (JDM), seats upholstery (black with red stitch), shift boot, shift ****, carbon fiber center console, gauges, armrest, spoiler, side skirts, no moonroof, wheels, brakes, master cylinder

as you can see a lot of stuff, i bet there's a lot more than i listed here. hehe i'm bored ok?
