Well, they're individual throttle bodies (as in four of them), and to be completely honest and with no intention whatsoever of sounding rude, if you're asking this question then ITB's most likely aren't the best idea for you.

itb's are only good if you have a motor that is really built , like 330whp built if you are a small time power motor you will lose power instead of getting power out of it , cost for a good set is about $2200 , for a cheap set mad out of motorcycle carbs. about $600( no good )

Usually it doesnt get filtered. But you can fab up one with filters, or use a mesh screen to filter the air.

or one of these
the big cf cone type thing has a filter in it, and it obvously doubles as a type of ram air induction

Independant throttle bodies would give you a decent boost of power on an all motor engine that needs it. Having the independant throttle bodies evens out the airflow to the cylinders and reduces turbulence. It's expensive, but generally going all motor is a lot more expensive than FI.

Ignore the guy that said something about 330whp. There is noone on this planet get makes 330whp out of a B18C.

If you were planning to go hardcore all-motor, ITBs are for you. But you'd want to sort out other things first - header/exhaust system, valvetrain, higher compression, ECU tuning. I would also say an intake and manifold, but if you're going to put ITBs on then you wouldn't need those.

look up user tbone. he has the itb's on his 2.0l rex. he's currently tuning them to work right, but he has somewhere in the 250hp range. and he was running 11's before the itb's.

ITB's are great for response. Which is primarily why people use them. Power is difficult to attain using mild compression unless you tune them out really well.

A lot of people are making their own DIY ITB's, there have been a couple really good posts in the all-motor forum regarding them, so do a little searching and you can see how people are making them from motorcycle throttle bodies.

Right now the best system on the market is the Jenvy throttlebodies, mainly because they offer the widest range of sizing, so you aren't stuck with too small or too large throttlebodies. http://www.jenvey.com/
