Default Integra - type R engine

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to put an acura integra type R engine into a regular integra. I was thinking of doing this but I am not really sure if it would work well. Please inform me of any problems that I may have and also if it is not too bad of a thing to do I need to know somewhere that I could either swap for one and also where to get it installed (too big of a job for just me)

Thanks a lot

peace

THATS A GOOD POINT THAT AN LS WITH TURBO IS JUST AS GOOD OR EVEN BETTER THAN THE TYPE R BUT WHAT ABOUT PUTTING A TURBO IN THE TYPE R ENGINE THAT I WANT TO GET AND BUILDING IT UP TOO, (THIS IS WHAT I WAS PLANNING TO DO) ---SOUNDS GOOD OR BAD????

I haven't picked up the car yet but I was looking at putting the new engine into either a 1995 LS or GSR

everything would still be stock I am gonna start with the engine

Yes it works. The GSR in particular is easy to Ratize. The LS, GS, RS, & SE are without Vtec so you'd need to do some work, but it's definately do-able. If you get a GSR though, I don't think there's much value in getting an entire B18C5 engine swap. I'd much rather build the B18C1 in it.

what's the difference if it has vtec?

Yes you'd need a compatible ECU. I'd go with a P28 OBDI and Hondata for this.

I'll tell you this before someone comes in here and starts flaming all over you. Everyone would probaly tell you that it's not worth it, 4800 is alot u rather find yourself a gsr and built it up and it'll beat the type r with the amount to invest in it. gsr(around 3300) so u have 1500. hell you could put that towards builting ur tranny up jdm type r final drive, lighten flywheel, clutch, etc.

If you have an LS or b18b1 people are going to say go turbo or ls/vtec.

I can't lie the type r(b18c5) is a really good motor with alot of potential, but i just hope that you are going to spend alot of money on it or it's a complete waste. If i have the money I'd do it.

Since he mentioned it. Turbo IS the way I'd go. For around the same cost of that B18C5 transplant you could look for a turbo setup that'd almost certainly yeild better results.
