Icon2 integra gsr problem

hit a brick wall 😑 1995 gsr on full motor rebuild with less than 2000 on the motor. after driving as soon as you shut the motor off it's super hard to turn back on. fuel pump good battery/starter good (new). it cranks but sounds like no fuel is coming and when it finally starts you can smell fuel. once it starts it stays at 1500 rpm idle and SOMETIMES after letting it sit will drop to regular idle 700 rpm even though the car is at warm/operating temp. help yes I've searched -.-

fuel smell could mean only partial ignition.
check plugs/wires/dizz.

^^^ this and also make sure TPS and map sensor plugs are not reversed. Check your distributor coil, sounds like its not getting spark and your flooding the motor with fuel when it fires.

If your new head gasket leaks you didn't put the gasket and or head on correct! these don't "usually leak!!!" if you got oil in the corner tab of the head gasket it can be coming from several places not the head gasket its self, check vtec solenoid gasket, distributor o ring, valve cover gasket ect...

aussie over at club integra is the guy that said this is common problem, he seems to know his stuff. i put some hondabond around the metal tab area and it seems to be holding so far. not sure how i couldve botched the head gasket install. i used all the manuals plus several online guides lol.
