240-250 fwhp is about the limit of N/A tuning that is still streetable (even that probably wouldn't be really streetable). Above that pretty much requires forced induction. Neither will be within your budget if you include the price of the car.

They really aren't that fast, and I highly doubt you'll be seeing 300 without turbo. They are a pretty durable car though. But honestly, if I had 10K I would get a 240 or some RWD car. I really don't like FWD though.
10 grand...pick up a 95 GSR for around 6... use the other 4 for a light build and boost. You'll have quite a quick car.
Integra's are a durable car. It's a Honda, their known for being reliable. (And IMO VERY easy and fun to work on.) Its a car though, stuff will break, just less often in a Honda.
You might want to look in the classefieds here, and pick something up that already has been lightly modded...i.e. susp. and rims, then use the extra dough towards boost.
Then again...with 10 g's If i wasn't in love with Honda's, i'd get a E36 328, 325, or possibly a cheap 95 M3.

Very well said. While this IS a honda forum and Integras are awesome and have a chick magnet factor, they aren't all as fast as people make them out to be- they're just easy to make fast. If you want fast on your budget, you'd be better off getting a 240 out of the box. Just look around.
Turbo will be the most efficient way of maxing HP. Getting 240ish out of a NA engine is more expensive most of the time than just putting a turbo and boosting to 250+ HP.

10K's enough to get yo'self a clean t3g and boost it, y0.....
you just won't be makin 300 to the wheels
then again, the idea of a 16year old inexperienced driver w/ a 12second car is a lil scary

I think they look good, but too many people have integras now a days just like the civics. If i were you i would get a nissan 240sx, RW, rare, and can make it faster than an integra.
hey i got my completely modded 94 Teg LS from here for $7000

they are not rare and every one wants them because they think they'll be able to do some made tight drifting

i would use that 10gz for a truck. 10gz in a integra will never be enough for u or anyone else. U gonna keep changin stuff around until ur 10gz become zip! Integras are good but wen u have a car like that, u gonna wanna fix it up. jus get a motorcycle n get a point A to point B car.
Porsch 951, Porsche 944 S2, BMW M3 (E30)... you won't need to mod. the suspensions is already there, power is already there... maybe rims on the 944's. At any rate, those are some freakin awesome handling cars and they're decently fast too. I have a video somewhere of a 951 with a new wastegate, BOV and filter that went 0-60 in 4.9 and 0-100 in under 13 seconds.... not to mention this is a car th at'll outhandle ANYTHING else that's 10k or less.
by no means would I say a honda is really that fast, but i still love my integras cause there a lot of fun to drive. But if your looking to be king of the drag strip, look elsewhere or look to turbo one
a teg is a great first car.
:whispers so no g3 owners hear me: get a g2(90-93). they look better. they are lighter and cheaper :whispers so no g3 owners hear me:
2-3k for a car and hell 5-6k will build you a pretty nice lsvtec w/ a short geared vtec tranny.

The integra is a great car, and will be perfect for your first car. Its not fast enough that you will kill yourself, but it is quick enough that it will be a blast to drive. Whenever you think that you've mastered driving it, drop another 4-5k,and you can make it extremely fast (13 second range). another 2k, and you'll be in the 12s.
If you dont have a lot to spend on repairs, once again the integra is the way to go. I have 170,000 miles on mine, and its been raced just about every weekend for the past year and a half.
The only downside about integras is theft. If you plan on buying one, be ready to spemd considerable money on antitheft measures, or you wont have it for long.

Lighter? I thought the G2's were heavier.

you are 16 ,learn how to drive your teg stock then worrie about 300 hp ,what are you kidding me ? are you looking to kill yourself or others?? why do you need 300 horse ??
I'll give one advise, dont waste ur money on aftermarket parts when you buy ur integra. get one with low mileage and 100% stock, and drive it. Perform maitenance and dont waste money. Save up and when ur out of college and got a nice job, buy a real performance car like NSX or S2000 or any other ones out there.
if u added up all the money throughout the life of the car that you will spend on replacement parts like, brake pads, tires, oil changes, timing belt/water pump services. there is just no real need i see at the moment trying to make a car go just a little faster to get to 60 mphs.
do some suspension upgrades and go autocross

Except a Miata.
Which brings me to my point. If you want a fun RWD car, get a Miata. Forget the 240sx, it's not any quicker, doesn't handle as well, and isn't as reliable.
But an Integra as a first car? Hell yeah it's a good idea. Reliable, safe, quick and handles great. What more do you want?

...from a 951 owner -- a good clean example will be close to $10K and you will quickly be in over your head if anything needs fixing. Clutch job is $1500 minimum unless you do it yourself, and that will take at least one weekend for most people. It's not a car for beginners and those watching their wallets... The Integra is much easier to own and operate, is more economical, and the large user base for modding gets you much more info and way cheaper parts... That's why I bought one for my daily driver...
