Integra good??
I was thinking about changing my car in for an Integra. I was thinking about maybe a GSR. I know nothing about them other than what I have read(which isnt much). I was wondering if you guys could teach my about the Integras of about the 96-99 years. Like any statistic or number about the car that you know, or just some good common knowledge things about the Integra. What should I look for when im looking at different Integras, anything that is a strong point to look out for. Also, my friend told me that the GSR was very unreliable, is this true? Also, what could you tell me about a turbo GSR, I know that there are different turbo setups, but what do you guys think of turbo GSR's(or any other model) in general. Also, for a 96-99 Integra GSR with like 60-70,000 miles, in good shape, what would you expect to pay? Same with turbo??
Thanks
Thanks
hehe...
ok.. first.. beware... u may get some harsh replies telling you ohh one or more of the following.. "Search", "Read old posts on this forum", etc....
with that said... i will give u my reply...
I love the tegs... even now with a new car.. i miss my old ride. If you get one in good condition, i doubt you will regret your purchase. Everyone i ever knew who owned one loved theirs. I've can't even count the number of hours i spent on this board readin threads in the teg forum cuz i was so into my teg. I loved my LS and i'm sure u will appreciate any teg GSR or otherwise.
Is the gsr unreliable? Let me answer that question with a question... who the hell said that??? the teg, like most honda vehicles is an incredibly reliable and well designed automobile in my opinion. My roomate had a GSR until it was stolen and it was a great car, never gave us any problems.
Turbo gsr? u can turbo almost anything nowadays. haha... is it reliable? depends on how u build it i guess. I think its one of those things where it really takes a combination of good research, good products, and good clean installation. But there seems to be plenty of guys on this board who've boosted their tegs with great results.
Whats a fair price? go to http://www.kbb.com
As for purchasing a turbo'd gsr... i wouldnt. I'd get one as close to stock as possible and mod it all myself.

If you do plan to buy a gsr, buy it bone stock like the above post, you'll have much more fun putting in time and installing things yourself and such. But first, you must invest in security, layers and layers, especially with a gsr. Our poor integras get stolen very very often, so be sure to invest in security.
Here's a link to team-integra.net, with a lot of info you need to know about the models and years, motors, etc.. about our integras.

Hope to see you back here with an integra, and ignore the flamers (ethugs)

you specifically said 96-99. im not sure if you know but 94-2001 are all the same integras with minimal things changed.
acuras and hondas have a good reputation for being reliable.
i as well would prefer stock or you will get a car that has been beaten on and raced constantly.
like many people mentioned, security is key. they are very popular among thieves. Theft insurance is a must.
have a look at http://www.kbb.com for pricing info based on your location and mileage and condition of the vehicle. i would not pay more than 200.00 less than the price given on kbb for private party sale.
goodluck.

i think he said 96-99 in terms of $
gen 3 integras range from 94-01 like stated earlier
LS(b18b) is a better boost platform, while the gsr(b18c) is a better n/a
i would recogmend a 98 due to the notable cosmetic changes made from 97-98. they slightly revamped the exterior. (front/rear bumper and red taillights) gsr's also get stolen more than LS.

One more question. What would you say to look for as far as milage goes for a car to boost. What would you say to be the limit before it is not good for the engine to boost. Thanks again
well it really depends on the motor's condition, my LS had about 115,000 miles on it when i boosted. You definetly should do a compression test and leakdown before you turbo.
Make sure you tune right and research a lot more. I just recently blew my rings due to improper tuning.

Where is a good place in the sacramento area to get it tuned. Also, what should I look for in a kit to do a turbo set up. Like, a kit that will set me up with a decent powered setup, what would come in that? Would you guys say that ebay has good kits, are they usually complete kits, or are they missing the one magical pice that costs as much as the rest of the kit(had it hapen to me on ebay).

I'm not too sure about ebay's turbo kits. I wouldn't spend that much money on ebay at one time. I picked up my kit from a member here on ht in the classifieds.
Or you can just build one, it would be cheaper for a pretty reliable setup.

Any Integra model or other car can be reliable as long as you maintain it.
