Default Integra Distro Problem

Hello,
I just bought a 92 Integra RS with 186,000 kms in very good condition. The car is clean and the drivetrain has been well-maintained. I have been reading that many people complain about distributor problems with their early model hondas. I want to open this car up and swap some parts for performance so I definitely do not want a shady distributor governing my sparks.
Someone actually told me that "Horsepower TV" on Spike last week mentioned a fix for this specific problem but I cannot seem to find it anywhere.
So I guess I want to know what exactly is up with the oem honda distro? Is it a specific part like the rotor or coil that I can replace with a nice aftermarket piece to resolve this? Should I get a whole new ignition system?
Besides fixing the distro, I will swap for the following: Bosch spark plugs and wires, cold air intake pipe w/ k&n filter, some good headers and a nice 2 - 2.5" exhaust system. pulleys may be an option in the future as may a fuel regulator or pump, depending how the engine runs with the above parts. I hope this gives a better picture of my distro requirements.
Thanks for any advice!
