I have a 96 gsr and I bought it use? My question is that how can I determine if I have an aftermarket cams or type R cams. When i bought the car, it has an adjustable aftermarket camgears and the cam gears cover was cut. I would think that the previous owner wouldnt have cut it if he was not playing with the cam gear set up. Is it worth it to just go to a dyno and tune it or do you guys suggest me to buy a type R cams first and then tune it? Im a little low on money and wanna make the right decision so I dont waste none.

 

You should ask the previous owner what mods did he do to save you time and money. Why would you waste another trip to dyno again then put in new cams. Find out if its an aftermarket cams. If not, just get the itr cams first then other mods if necesary then dyno it. It will save you the 2nd trip and money and time consumin.
