Default Intake for the teg

Hey guys i was wondering if i should spend like 50 bucks and get an ebay brand cai or spend 150 more and get an AEM. I wont be doing much more than I/H/E and suspension on my car, so would you guys say that brand name intake would make a big difference?

if your not too serious about the car or dont want bragging rights or just dont care, they will work the same.

if you don't really need that extra couple hp, I think you better off leave it stock. Too many hydrolocking reported lately.

you can only hydrolock you car if you completly submerge your filter. i drive around in the rain with my filter exposed and never had a prob.

if cops are **** about modifications done to your car, then get an aem. They come w/ CARB numbers which makes it legal to have on your car. The ebay ones dont have any numbers or stickers so you get an instant fix it ticket or a trip to the state ref..depending if the cop is a dick or not!

i disagree w/ the bypass valve. whats the point of a CAI w/ bypass when all your doing is still sucking in hot air?? the point of a CAI is for the COOLER air outside of the engine bay. if you want to use a bypass might as well stick with a short ram.

Just to let you know that AEM's Research and Development team are members of Honda-Tech... you might want to keep things like that under wraps.

Oh and to answer the question... I have a completely stock GS-R except a CAI from AEM and had it dynoed before and after... There was an increase of 9 hp... I know this because AEM dynoed the car for me free. They actually have it right now developing the second version of the same intake... You might want to wait until the second version comes out so that the "old ones" are cheap as ****. It shouldn't be too long.

yeah the first AEM's still go for like 180-200ish. I think im just gonna get an ebay brand, i dont plan on doing extensive motor work, the gsr motor has more hp than i probably need (im still a noob driver).

yea, but realize how many sticker stands in the mall make logos that they probably shouldn't(including aem). plus i only made one and gave it away cuz the guy painted over his old one.
lastly, if you noticed the icon and the up and down letters, you would realize that i was being sarcastic and making a joke refering to ricers thinking stickers make you faster.

IMO this is the best mod for more airflow/bang for the buck/avoiding legalities/etc

get aem I did. Becuase where I live cops are ****, and that carb number comes in handy. The bypass valve also gives peace of mind if the filter becomes submerged, which is very uncommon
