It is not hard but time consuming to install an LSD. We recently put a Type R LSD in to a B16 tranny. Your tranny should go for about $700.

buy a quaife LSD and pull your tranny, and deliver both to a shop that can do lsd's in imports.... have them put it in...

no need to be doing swaps and bullshit.... quaife is stronger than the type-r lsd and will hold the big power later down the road..

I would compare overall cost.

Type-R LSD will cost ~$400-$700.

Quaife will cost ~$850.

Installation of LSD. This is rather time consuming (~3-4 hours), so the labor is going to probably going to be around ~$200-$300 (possibly more).

Type-R tranny (used) will cost ~$1200-$1600. You are getting better gear ratios with the Type-R tranny.

Just sell the GSR trans and put it toward an ITR trans.

Yeah but you also get the benefit of shorter gearing with the ITR tranny, not just the LSD. Just swap in an ITR tranny....it's well worth it, trust me.

what i was going to do initially....
didn't go quaife cuz it was a bit over a g at that time...
didn't get the itr tranny b/c i was going FI....

so i jus dropped a jdm r lsd in my gsr tranny....

worked well....

went all motor, 9500 rev limit......great long *** gears and speed....

btw, no matter what u do, the LSD is the BEST mod.........
my favorite mod....besides rubber

My suggestion is to get a JDM final drive. Keep your current gas mileage, gearing, while accelerating faster. First, second, and third gear goes through as quick as an R tranny, but fourth and fifth is supposed to be a little quicker.

GSR 2nd and 3rd gear still wont be as short as the ITR's gearing.
