Nah. Even an Acura/ Honda dealer will install junkyard/ebay parts so long as you know someone who works there. Go to a different shop.
They're probably pissed that you didn't buy the part from them, as most places will react when you do something like that. If you aren't lucky, you might be stuck with the part putting it in yourself
they maybe upset u didnt purchase from them, but its completely understandble that a shop in there position would not want to install a used steering column, plus, it could be the wrong part. i know ur gonna say its the right one, but i get this all the time when people bring in their own parts want them installed and then i find out after putting the car on the lift, that its the wrong damn part!!! and to top it off, and u better be sure the donor car wasnt in a front end collision, as some cars have collapsable steering columns to prevent driver injury.
if it fails u might end up dead!!!!

Precisely, It burns me up as a technician to get some bogus **** from someone who doesn't know what they are talking about. And, i'm not saying that the thread starter doesn't know what they're talking about but you could have been told one thing and handed another. Some people should stop trying to save a buck, because that buck you saved might come back to bite you in the ***.
Some shops around here will install junk yard parts, they just won't provide any kind of warranty unless you buy their parts. Sounds fair to me, and the installer should be happy because they won't have any future liability. I think they like to install used parts because if they installed a new one and it fails, they have to honor the warranty, so they actually prefer to install a used part.

thats not what we were talkin about sam92teg, we were talking about people bringin in their own parts new or used. often times i will start a project for a customer and begin dissamebling and then i notice by the time the part is revealed, that its different. then i have to charge the customer to put the car back together and get the right part, which in most cases they let us take care of after they show signs of deffinate embarassment.
most of the time im easily able to catch a wrong part but, not allways

Not everyone has this luxury. Some shops around my area are the same way too. It's really dumb, but it's just an extra way for the shop to make money. I'd try going around to different shops.

agreed, most kids on HT just dont understand and in fact they are the ones who are really dumb. when they bring me a chipped ebay ecu, blox camshafts, and a megan header. i inform them that they may loose hp with the megan, the ecu will prob. fry and that the cams prob. wont do anything without tuning, but of coasre they still want it done, and are still entirely convinced that the car will go faster.and then they dont understand why their megan/OBX parts dont fit without modification or why their ecu fries or doesnt kick vtec untill 7k.
WTF, i will never understand half of these people.
like the other post on megan headers now. its very simple making a good header takes research, dyno time and money. hell the dc sports guys didnt even make hp with their 4-1 header. there is no real point putting a header on an ls anyway, what a waste
I agree with you about the ebay ecu's, but a megan header makes just as much power as DCsports or Greddy header that costs 3x as more( still only as good a a stock 4-1 JDM ITR header). Granted, they will not be making nearly as much power as an SMSP, Rage, Hytech, etc. header but they will account for a few whp over the stock exhuast manifold as long as they are paired with a high-flow cat and freer-flowing exhuast.
