instaling headers
hey, how hard is it to instal headers? i will probly get dc 4-2-1 herd those are easyer to instal, i also herd they give beter ground clearence then the 4-1 is this true? like when i instal the headers is there a special thread lock? do you even need it? thanks
um ya should torque down the bolts , pretty much every bolt in your car has a torque spec, and you shoudl follow that as much as possiable, but when comes to motor stuff it is very important to torque them down to spec's unless you want **** like your header falling off.. or if you dont use a torque wrench you could over torque them and do some damage

The torque spec for the bolts on the head is 23 ft lbs. Begin with the center bolt and then alternate left to right as you work outward.

It's preferred you use a new gasket with that because the old one can collapse pretty easy due to the heat stress over the years. Be very careful not to overtorque because you can crush the new gasket at the tightening points which would bend it up in other places allowing for an exhaust leak.

installing a header is very easy, I think 4-2-1 and 4-1 clearance issues are non-existant if not minimal.. You unbolt it from the bottom of the car first and make sure you unplug your O2 sensor (might need a monkey wrench). Unbolt it from up top and you're ready to install the new one! You don't need to torque it to a special # just tighten it enough, you should be able to feel it imagine 20lbs or so.. imagine you're lifting a 20lb weight push the wrench down that much.

but, so 4-2-1 and 4-1 have the same ground clearance, i scrape now on hella things so i dont want to fuc up some expensive header(s). wtf ever. dose anybody know for shure?
4-1 has poor ground clearance because of the 2 extra collectors on the bottom. i switched to 4-1 cause i smashed 2 jdm itr headers pretty bad. so I just opted with an apex ss 4-2-1. I love it.
thanx for the info, i havent got a header yet dose anybody want to sell some? got to be california legal, thx, or dose anybody know were i can get some california header for under $250, thats all i got.
