Default Indiglos???

Ok, as a last resort, I have decided to get indiglos gauges for my car because the gauge cluster doesn't light up anymore. I have replaced the bulbs and fuse but no luck. Im guessing it has to do with the wiring.

Some questions,

Where are the indiglos connected?

Do they need the factory light bulbs to help them glow?

Thanks.

black wire connect to ground, anywhere that can be grounded, and red wire to the instrument, just connect the red wire to the fuse into the instrument fuses box. then it should work fine. And no you dont need any light bulb to make it light up. Hope that helps!

thats very weird man... sorry to hear thats giving you trouble but at least you have an alternative. let me ask you this... have you ever swapped out the bulbs behind the guages before? Meaning have you ever put different colored bulbs such as amber or red behind there? im just curious.

The needles themselves are backlit by the bulbs, so those won't light up if they are not working now. But it still should be visible from all the light on the gauges themselves.

Don't get regular indiglo's. The circles pf blue/green-ness is going to kill your night vission and make driving dangerous. Get the reverse indiglo's that don't light up too much.

i have the reverse indiglos and i love them. they look good. you can hook them up the dimmer switch. ground, and then on the constant power i think. there are 3 wires. unconstant power being the last one. try it on both. i cant remeber which one i used.

I got reverse indiglos on ebay, and they looked really good, but they made it so my needles wouldnt be able to move, so I had to take them off

I used superglue, but they still stuck, so I had to take them off, and they left nasty residue all over that wouldnt come off, so I had to buy a new cluster

use the double sided tape from 3M to keep the gauges stationary.

I noticed that the lighting in the center of my dash (light between the two main gauges) were darker than the rest of the dashboard. I'll probably swap out the bulbs eventually.

I dont recommend colored bulbs or LED's. colored bulbs are darker no matter what color they are and LED's are directional so they will shine unevenly behind the gauges as well.

Good Luck to ya

Whatever you do, do not ground out the wire to the metal piece under the guage cluster. If you have to connect a piece of wire to make it longer then do it. Ground it away from the cluster or you will fry it.

Half of my center console works. And sometimes it doesn't. I just give it a little knock and some of the lights come back. It sucks.

I'll probably go buy some indiglos soon.
Well thanks to everyone that helped out. I appreciated it.
