ignition timing order question

Where should the rotor be pointing when cylinder 1 is tdc and how is the piston order like cylinder 1 is where

You adjust ignition timing with a timing gun.

Trying to figure out where the spark plug wires go on a cap/rotor/wire replacement?

Driver's side is cyl#1, passenger #4..

Looking at the distributor while standing at the passenger fender, and using a clock-face as a reference... The #1 cylinder is at the 8:00 position. #3 is at 10:00, #4 is at 2:00, and #2 is at 4:00.
