ignition timing
alright when u move the dizzy cap all ur doing is moving the cap away from the rotor soit can hit the contact point at a later or sooner time right?
also when u retard the timing what being happen.. does the car idle low.. so when the piston comes up on compression it doesn't ignite until its going down?
installed new dizzy **** is giving me problems.
also how do i use timing light and whats the reccommeneded timing for a 94 gsr thanks..

The proper ignition timing is between 16 - 18 degrees BTDC (before top dead center).
When you move the distributor, you are changing the point at which the spark plug fires, which alters when the combustion process starts.
Yes, this will have a direct effect on idle. You must "jump" the service connector behind the glove box, to keep the ECU from altering your ignition timing.
If your going to continue to work on your car, I strongly suggest getting yourself a HELMS Manual, all of this is covered in there.
I'm lazy and I don't feel like explaining every last detail, so check out this articles:

Make sure that the engine is warm and to jump the service connector before setting the timing.
