Default idle problem

HEy all, I have a serious Idling problem and wanted to know if anyone went threw anything sim.. and wanted to know how they fixed etc. My car idles from 1k-2.5k really fast, and this is the 4th weak that ive had to deal with it and its really anoying, people think im reving on them at lights and cops like give me the evil eye and such, Its not my cams becuz it does it when its cold, and I thought it was the IAC valve but I just got a new one and nothing changed, I am going to replace all of my vacume hoses tomorrow, and im a see what happens, but does anyone have any clue as to what else may cause this bull ****. I hope its not a bent valve(knock on wood).

ok i have the same problem i found this out if you take out your intake. and look in the throttle body. you will see a 1/4 inch hole on the bottom turn the car on and stick your finger so you plug the hole and the car will idle perfect

I had a similar problem in my previous honda. I believe it was either the oxygen sensor (Is your engine light on)? Or your throttle position sensor. One way or another, I took it to Honda, they adjusted something and it was fine....

this is called surging....it happens when your TPS is not with ine specs...just adjust it and it will go back to normal.

yeah im not sure on how to "adjust" the tps, can anyone help with that?
and I have not check engine light, I pluged that hole in the throttle body like the first response suggested, and I got the engine to shut up long enough for me to hear a broken valve rattling around : (

well i sent my TB to JG...(donne before) and they modified it so I could. but you can do it your self...it's not easy, you have to remove the TB...look at he TPS...there are 2 screw looking things. without the head (i guess honda didn't want you messing with it) and cut 2 grooves in it so you can use a flat blade to back the screws out. then i would replace the scres with regular ones...you will then find that it moves...leave it kinda loose. put it back on the car and start it up. you can adjust it then and the surging will stop. like i said...not for non mechanical people, but that will fix it...good luck guys.

Could be the TPS or the idle air control valve, the hole that in the bottom of the throttle body. Get a helms manual, it as a good diagnostic procedure.

Marty.
