well lets start by stating the transmission code...

look around on the tranny and see if theres any stickers or vin plates and look them up but really does it matter that its a ls tranny? Maybe its a gsr...Do you know the seller? I mean inless he is looking for a ls tranny it wouldnt matter as long as its a b series tranny they all bolt up the same besides hydro, cable and the different gearing .Hope this may answer your question
Your the smart *** that couldn't use the search function. Besides the vin tag they have a sticker on them telling you the transmission code. If you really want to figure out what transmission you have then get into 5th gear (or any other gear will work) and see what rpm/speed you are at in that gear. Then google what speed and rpm you should be at in an LS trans. There is a noticable difference between an LS trans and a GsR trans gear/shifting wise. This topic has been covered a million times, you just need to search.
If the transmission is not in a vehicle and you can not physically drive it, I would not buy it either way especially if it has no VIN tags or even code tags considering its probably stolen.
theyres a sticker that will tell what kind of tranny it is an ls tranny will say S80-xxxx but its also the same for gsr and type r trannys, if its prior to 96 it wont have a vin plate on it.
Only way to be sure is to open the trans and count the teeth of the gears or if you spin the mainshaft from outside the tranny in third, you can count how many times you have to spin until your axle/differential makes a full rotation. But there is no definite way to tell if you have a ls/gsr tranny by simply looking at it.
