I Need an answer

would type r valves springs and retainers work on a ls motor JUST for the ability to take a higher RPM. NOT FOR VTEC

Something else to remember about these v-tec motors is that they also have a main cap girdle. This connects the three inner mains together to strengthen the motor. It also comes with Eagles ls/v-tec kit.

do you have cams? if not than its pointless to rev higher. youre going to want some ARP rod bolts while youre at it.
