Hypertech Shogun
I am thinking about getting this unit to control my timing, fuel, and rev-limit.
The question is has anybody used it before?
Does it just add and subtract from your stock ecu or does it require remapping the whole ignition and fuel curves?
I ask because a fairly reliable source told me that the shogun requires you to redo the stock information, but I have read through the online manual and it just seems like a typical piggyback unit that adds and subtracts from the stock info.

Haha...who's the reliable source
Ok...here's where I got my info.
Joe R (might have heard of him, runs Hybrid.Honda-Perf.org) had a Shogun, he said he dyno'd with and without back to back..and LOST 5-6 HP with the Shogun because it wasnt dialed in. He is the one that told me you basically have to go through and remap. Now it probably comes with a preprogrammed map but it wont be ideal for your car, and it wont be what it was without the Shogun.
Locash (Joe0 also told me the same thing, that lots of time on the dyno is needed to get it to perform like STOCK..then you have to try and tune it for more power.
I myself have never used it, but Joe R might be letting me borrow his to dyno and see what I can do

I read the online manual and it talks about the fact that when you first install the unit you have to make sure that the values are set to 0 before you start tuning.
Maybe Joe R and Locash were moving the shogun between cars and were not reseting the unit back to 0.
Look at page 6 of the Acrobat file for the Operations Manual of the Shogun at the bottom of this web page

HX_Guy- What does your Helms say the stock timing is for the b20z?
