How to start modding my engine to an ls / vtec ?????
Ok I have a 94 integra ls with the basic bolt ons and suspension upgrades so I was wondering what I should do to start building up my motor to keep it N/A. Would getting a type r head or gsr head be benifical or what other type of things. I want to start off gradually and not do every thing at once so like 500 at a time so I was wondering what I should start with and work my way up to thanks.
that's kinda hard to do.. at the minimum i say get the vtec head.. new ls head gasket.. vtec oil pump.. vtec ecu.. and ls timing belt.
if your like me who wants to feel like their accomplishing more & more everyday towards their dream honda ... just start out small. Start buying things you'll need that are all that expensive like a verity of TOOLS, mis gaskets, cleaners, PFR, cam gears, injectors, disturbutor, new spark wires, spark plugs, oil, new filter, OEM parts that you'll need to remove and replace(all belts). Then start buying cams, rods, pidtions(but those will take some saving.) But you get my point right?
hwo benifitical would that be to my LS right now to get a vtec head lets say the type r or gsr head. With getting a new head is there any thing else that is a mus have like an ecu, cams, cam gears ect. Thanks
Dohc Vtec head of choice (B18c5,c1,b16a,a2,B17a) with I/M, distributor and vtec solenoid
New cap and rotor
If you have the $$, replace the head's seals or just buy the Honda top end kit
ECU for that head or chipped ECU for your intended setup
GSR or Z10 block girdle
LS headgasket
ARP rod bolts
Vtec water and oil pump (new)
Vtec timing belt for that head
Tranny of your choice (LS tranny sux for all motor) GSR,B16,ITR,CTR
New clutch while you're at it
Bah... get a good shop to build the LSVT or you will PAY !!

the biggest thing about doing an ls/vtec is getting the best shop possible to do...make sure u have someone doing it that has done many times before..make sure its just not some dick slapping it togather in his back yard.....this is the most important part cause im sure u want it to last longer then a year....dont just slap a vtec head on a stock ls block....make sure u do it the right way or its not gonna last...if ur doing an lsvtec cause u think its cheaper then buying a gsr motor or something dont bother doing it cause its not gonna be done right for cheap...my ls/vtec cost me around 5 grand...so if ur gonna do it dont cheap out do everything right or ur just gonna have to buy a new motor a month later
