How safe are Integras?
I was recently looking at the local news paper and saw that a local teen recently died in a black Acura Integra and this prompted me to think; how safe are 94-01 Integras? They have pretty thin a frames and was wondering what your input it on this?
Yeah, they;re small cars, and everyone that drive them thinks they're 1000 HP racecars, which they're not. Put those things together and you = death. If you're that worried get an SUV.

Plenty more pics at my website:

I'de have to say they are pretty safe. That was my old teg (see sig). Feel free to guess the speed, cause I sure won't say it. Hit a guardrail sideways, flipped four times end over end/side over side. Then it caught on fire. Had a passenger with me. We walked away, I had a cut between my eyes, he had one of the side of his head.
And no, I don't think I'm cool for doing this. I was stupid, young, and more stupid. Only by God's hand were my friend and myself spared. That's why most poeple on here think street racing is stupid. Because stuff like this happens, and we were blessed enough to walk away.
So yes, Integra's are safe cars. And be smart, don't street race
Oh and last, don't bother making fun of my hideous ugly red dash, or my altezzas. Remember, I was dumb and stupid

Well it says in the paper that speed was involved and the way they described him sounded like he was not very responsible becasue they said speed was involved and he has a "souped up Integra with a screaming exhaust" and he was not wearing a seat belt..
Well not wearing a seat belt is basically a death wish for most crashes (no offense ben). I obviously would have been ejected, and not living, had I, and my passenger, not been wearing ours (though I will admit, I only had my auto, across my chest belt on, and not my lap belt. My passenger did have both on).
Events like this though really make you open up your eyes and rethink things. I hope other poeple can learn from mistakes like mine, and others as well that we see on here.

Yeah, I think most of us were crazy behind the wheel at that age. I remember doing some very stupid things, and I'm lucky I'm sitting here typing tonight, and still have a driver's license. You just have to calm down, and act responsibly. I'm much safer now, and I've slowed down a lot. I just think of what my family would have to go through if I did something stupid and lost my life. I have a very loving girl, who I love with all my heart, and I couldn't put her through that. So do yourself and the people you love a favor, and act like an adult behind the wheel, cause one mistake could end up being your last.

Yeah I try to drive responsibly (no racing etc...) but on the parkway I get carried away since speed limit is 55 and before I relize it I am hitting 85-90 MPH.. its just so smooth and feels great thats why now I set my cruise control to 55 and just sit back..
Well avoiding accidents is more important and I think the integra does a good job. The brakes are great and ABS does help for a new driver and it handles pretty good. I had to switch lanes realy fast in the last second (doing about 70 or so on a highway) when i switched to the other lane the car was smooth and I avoided the semi that was about to squish me.
But drive safe even though the light is green look to the left because people sometimes think they can make it through that yellow light lol it saved me once
You do not want to be T boned in an integra.

Yeah I drove my moms Montero and then drove mine wow its a difference nite and day, the Montero handles like **** and then I drove the Teg its tight and smooth... I still try to avoid racing etc.. I will probably pick up a Valentine 1 Radar so I can enjoy the Teg on clear parkways..
A 96 civic got hit in front of me one day pulling out of school by a suburban. The suburban was going between 55-60 and there were 4 people in the civic. Only 1 of the 4 were injured in the accident. The 1 girl injured was not wearing a selt belt and bounced her head off the passenger side door window. She suffered a concusion and some cuts. The others walked away unharmed. People please wear your seat belts! It could save your life. I brought this up because I know the civic and integra share a similar platform. All things considered I think hondas in general are the safest small cars on the road.
