Default How to Identify Engine

I am thinking about buying a complete b17a1 block and is wondering is there anyway to identify the b17 crankshafts to make sure it hasnt been switched out for a b16a crank. Numbers markings anything??!!Another thing is how can i tell if the motor is legitimate if the obd1s didnt have vins? Thanks for your time i really need to know asap before its gone!!

i'd put a 12" 1/4in drive extension down the sparkplug hole, and measure the stroke. it'll be half of the total movement. B16A has 77.4mm stroke, B17A has 81.4mm stroke. unless the engine is all torn apart, then just measure it
