How hard to replace synchro?
My friend has a GSR whose second gear grinds when he revs real high.. I'm assuming it's a synchro problem. How hard would it be to replace these synchros? I have ZERO experience with trannies, so any help would be great. Thanks.
what year is it? mine is an 01 and my third gear synchro just went, but acura just replaced it, well still replacing it. my suggestion would be to see if its still under warranty. i wouldnt screw with it unless u have experience.
It's a 95, definately still isn't under warranty. I'm just wondering how much it'd cost for the part, and whether it'd be worth trying to fix ourselves.
well lets put it this way.Acura, with labor, to replace one synchro costs about 800.00. if u think u can do it, go for it...........good luck
If i were you i'd become friends w/ someone at the dealership. My 3rd gear synchro just went also. I will be calling my friend in service tomorrow to speak with him about the problem. The techs at Acura would charge you 2 yours worth of service to change a valve cover gasket.....They wanted to charger my $600 just to change the head gasket.

Cracking open the case on a tranny and replacing synchros and final drives is something that only experienced mechanics should do. You'll understand when you see it opened up.
