How to do a leakdown test?
how do you do a leakdown test? I read c-speedracing.com's write up.
But do I do it when the engine is cold or hot? also, do I test the cylinders in this order: 1,3,4,2? and do I have to set each cylinder to TDC? so rotate the crank 1/4 turn counter clockwise after I set cylinder 1 to TDC?
Or do I just set Cylinder #1 to TDC, and do each cylinder 1,2,3,4?
thanks

Do it while its hot, you generally test the cylinders in order because you roll the motor to TDC for each cylinder and they are in order (thus, that way you do the least amount of rotating). You'll actually turn the crank a half turn due to the fact that it is a 4 stroke motor and it takes 2 full turns to get a full rotation of the cams. You must rotate the motor to TDC for each cylinder and not just leave it at TDC for cylinder #1 because on other cylinders the valves will be open and wont allow you to test a completely sealed combustion chamber.
