How do I remove the two knobs on the side of the seat?

How do I remove the two ***** on the side of the seat?
How do I remove the drivers seat adjuster *****? Do you just pull them off? I've tried a little but I didn't want to break it. I'm trying to take off the plastic cover so I can seperate the seats from the rails. But I think I need to take off the ***** so I can take off the plastic cover... help?
