Default Hit and Run

I was driving down a major road today in Mass and a 92 camry swirved into my lane hitting me and sending me into the median. The camry got wedged between me and a M coupe that was traveling the other way. The man proceeded to back up and took off down the road leave my car a 95 GSR with 52K behind. Luckily nobody was hurt and the police caught the man a few miles down the road. The man that towed my car away works on Acuras and said that there may be as much as 5k of damage. Ive taken incredible care of the car since I got it two years ago and it is a shame to see the car like that, due to someones carelessness. I was wondering what you would do if you were in my position, get it fixed or total it out and take the money. Ps there is no damage to the engine or the frame, and a reminder for all of you to drive safe...

obd-1 gsr, wait and see what it is actually quoted at, when someone hit my car, passanger door was destroyed and fender was mangled and front bumper cover was pretty much gone, my insurance agent said it was gonna be totaled, i had them send out another adjuster and he quoted it as repairable, then i shopped around and it ended up costing 1200, but i bought a fender off ebay, found a door in a junkyard and a bumper cover, so the 1200 was for paint and labor, cant even tell a color difference, just shop around and dont make any hastey decisions, and if you want to get rid of that motor if you do decide to get rid of it, id be interested

if its pretty bad...just get rid of it!!
the car will never be the same...total it out, then buy it back for the motor, and swap it into a civ h/b

I am not sure but tow truckers usually just tow nothing but cars. They're usually in contract with many auto shops and impound lots or they simply work independently. Which ever the case, I doubt he'll find the time to "work on" acura unless he was a really bad mechanic who got demoted to tow trucker.

Tow truckers, having to work alone (always on the road) usually have no one to talk to except for accident victims. It may be possible that they pretend to be a mechanic and give you invalid advices/quotations.

There are people on this board who had foul experiences with tow truckers. Hell, when I got into my accident (lost control and hit a parked car) and the tow trucker's exact words were "you want to tow it to your house? no one has to know."

All I am saying is that don't place his words in high regard and photos to show us the damage would be nice.

Hit and run, you might want to get a good lawyer. The guy took off and you couldve been seriously hurt. I'm not a money grubber, but if something like that happened to me I'd be pretty furious.
