Highest flowing header for LS?
I called JG today and Nancy is claiming their JG header makes 18 whp!! Is this true? I have a DC 4-2-1right now, and I know I can do better, since it is non-vtec what do you guys suggest? Thanks
Yup... Its true JG Engine Dynamics teamed up with Edelbrock and now together they are going to produce some great products.
Check it! http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/index.html

Man Im sorry..but I really dont think ANY header will make those kind of gains on a stock engine.
13 HP gain over DC headers near redline? 8 ft-lbs of torque too?

You might want to consider a JDM spec header with a 2.5" collector. As far as I know, a header designed for an ITR should fit your car with little or no modification. Of course with the 2.5" collector you will need either a testpipe, larger cat, or a modified stock cat. A JDM spec header should provide a good deal more performance than any US spec one, assuming your car needs the greater airflow. The new DC JDM 4-1 seems to be a good low-cost choice thats apparently similar to the Mugen piece in design.
how much does this header cost??? i was also considering buying this because edlebrock is kinda known for making headers for domestic v8's..well at least that is mostly what i hear about...... when it comes to headers on a v8
SLo - The JDM DC comes in either ceramic coated or stainless steel. I know at one point the S/S headers were not available but I'm not sure as to current availablity. The CC headers can be found for right around $300 shipped. I don't know the best prices on the S/S models but it should be around what the USDM DC stainless headers go for. Also figure in the price of a testpipe, new cat, or flange to modify your existing cat. You'd be much better off either running a larger high-flow cat or a testpipe rather than modifying your stock cat though. The stock cat would definately become a bottleneck in the system.

I'm pretty sure that the LS can use an ITR header. The GSR is the only model, which has a different cat (shorter), different exhaust (longer), and different header (longer). haha - confusing.
Anyhow, back to your question. A JDM spec header will be your best bet. A Toda or HyTech header are probably the BEST header money can buy. They will just destory that domestic header.

If I were to get a JDM ITR header, what is the best cat to use for it and how much do the cats usually run? Also, is it hard to install a cat, because most of the ones I've seen, you have to weld on the flanges>>Is there one that you don't have to do any welding that will bolt on to the ITR header and a 3" cat-back exhaust?
Check with Boba-Fet, I know he said his was roughly $300 shipped for the CC but I forgot where he ordered from. Most agree that the Carsound cats are the prefered cats to use. There are a few places that offer bolt-on cats for Integra applications - IPS racing and SMSP are two that I know of. Most people use the 2.5" cat, but for my car I would most likely use the 3" model. I'd rather not use a cat at all, but the 3" seems to be the largest available and will flow more than the 2.5". I'm sure the 2.5" cats are sufficient though, or people wouldn't use them. I just figure I'm only going to buy the cat once (hopefully) and I might as well get one that will never become the restriction in my system, regardless of my mods.
