Actually the Hella bi-xenons are down near the bottom of the scale in the world of HID projectors. It would really be alot better if the reflector bowl was chrome plated.

So the A6 projectors are better thna the E55 projectors ?

I don't know how they directly compare as far as low beam functionality, but I just know that the E-class/745i/X5/Maxima Hella bi-xenon projectors are on the lower end of the scale as far as all HID projectors go, with S2000 and LS430 projectors being at the very top of the scale.

lol It is pretty straightforward to do yourself.......Honestly even if I offer this as a service, I wouldn't do it for any less than 200$ because of all the time it takes to do it the right way.

I've just been searching Honda tech and HID planet for the answers to those questions.
You can use your stock projectors with an HID kit, but it will look like **** because the stock projectors dont have a cutoff shield, and the projectors are designed for halogen bulbs and not HID bulbs. If you use your stock projectors, the HID light output will be very hazy, and full of glare, not to mention the fact that you will get puled over by the cops for blinding people. HID projectors on the other hand, are designed to work with HID bulbs; they have a cutoff shield so you dont blind other drivers, and they are cut to provide the sharpest and brightestl light output possible.
If you are looking for projectors from an E55 or the newer maximas are the easiest to retrofit. but I used A6 projectors, because theyhave a sharper output, and they look better to me. The best however, are S2000 projectors, or according to Patrickgsr, the new lexus projectors.

What was that about stock HID's don't have a cutoff shield? All projectors designed for low-beam use have a cutoff shield. There is no type of shield involved with the bulb itself, be it halogen or HID.
There isn't really a problem with glare or blinding people when using an HID kit, assuming the HID bulb is properly aligned to match the position of the filament in the regular halogen bulb.
The only problem with using HID in the stock projectors, really, is the fact that it doesn't put down the light where you need it. It's super bright out to about 20 ft. in front of the car, but then falls off quickly. The shape of the light on the ground is also like 2 parabolic shapes (one from each projector), so the beam pattern is not very wide at all, compared to the beam pattern from an HID projector, which is very wide, with even lighting all the way out.

There are two differences from the D2R and the D2S. The D2S capsule is totally clear and has a notch in the top of the base and another small one to the right to lock it in. The D2R has a ceramic coating on the capsule to reduce glare in reflector- based hid systems. Along with the D2S the D2R has the same notches but instead of the little one being on the right, it is on the left, basically so you cant switch them out. I would suggest taking a dremel and making a notch on the right side of the base so that it fits properly. You are probably blinding the **** out of people not to mention your not getting the full performance from these projectors. BTW some A6 models came with bi-xenon projectors. You can distinguish the two from eachother by size, the bi-xenon's lens is 3 inches while the single-xenon's lens is around 2.5. Be careful when making the notch though, the plastic on the base is very brittle and can crack... Looks good though!

Yes I know about the plastic base being brittle, I actually cracked one of the bulb's bases while trying to get the bulbs to fit ! but yes I will be getting d2s bulbs very soon...by the way, thanks for the info on the bulbs..I wish i knew this stuff beforehand !

for a good/funny write up, the cat part was quite funny..

thanks dude
, then cutoff will be fixed as soon as I get the d2s bulbs.
