All if not most new, current, and past OE equipped cars came with 4100K HIDs.

You can trust me on this one...

it's not the hid bulb/ballast where i'm willing to bet you're thinking is causing it. it's the projector. you want that look? you go get yourself new projectors...bmw or audi ones and do retrofit... to find out more about that go to the top right of the screen and click search and you shall receive

hidforum has tons of retrofit photos. Audis use Hella projectors, as do Mercedes E55's which is what I now have in my car.

like i told everyone before... i would recommend doing the retrofit (assuming you are capable of it- my tools were very limited and i did it) over the 6k phillips anyday IMO

If I get say Hella Projectors, can I use aftermarket HID on them or do I have to get Hella HID or Xenon setup. Same thing with ballasts...are they interchangeable with other kits?

Well Hella and Philips are pretty much the same company, my Phillips D2S bulbs came in boxes marked Hella.

But yeah any D2S bulb will fit, but I highly suggest using Philps/Hella or Osram Sylvania.

and if I do a retrofit with the oem projectors, how do I make sure that the beam is right? like the placement of the projector.

Also if i get regular projectors and if i wanted to upgrade later on to bi-xenon. I would just have to change the projectors right?

The bi-xenon solenoid is built onto the projector itself, so you'd have to change the entire bi-xenon projector assembly.

OK I just bought myself a whole Audio Xenon setup with projectors. They're going to go in my 1-piece lights for my DA. What should I do about the reflectors in the housing? Some guy I read just cracked the reflectors and gutted it and put projectors in.

Hmm I hope you can fit them in there, DA headlights seem kinda narrow (top to bottom dimension) as far as headlights go.

You should also try sanding off the flutes inside the lens so you will have a clear lens in front of the projector. Tony the Tiger on H-T and on HIDforum has done this with his Camry headlights, and some other people have done it w/ other headlights, also.

upon further searching I found this to clear the flutes inside the lens. Good for anyone trying to do the same thing.

any of you guys know where to buy just the bulb? one of mine went out and i know just buying one would not be the same color as the other, so i am planning to buy a pair. i have an aftermarket 9006 phillips bulb.

http://www.hidtech.com also has OEM HID projectors and HID kits for sale. They even do retrofits on your oem housings. It is a fairly easy DIY project, definitely not worth paying what they want for it.

hidtech has Hella bi-xenon projector + HID packages for 449.99. That is a bit pricey compared to ebay prices but I personally would prefer new parts over used parts.

Included is:
2 Hella ECE spec D2S projector. (Audi A6 OEM Components)
2 Hella generation III ballasts.
2 Philips 85122 D2S HID bulbs (4300K).

Well the projectors are obviously going to be used, are you sure the ballasts are new in those packages? If so, $449 is a pretty good price.

I'm working on it, I got bi-xenon projectors from audi and the whole system. I'm going to try putting it in my 1-piece lights. Also clear up the flutes on the lens so the cut-off could be sharper.
