First check oil level and pressure. And besides that we know nothing about the situation besides it doesn't work. So tell us how long it hasn't worked, is the car new to you and so you don't know cars history etc. any info helps to diagnose the problem.

My GSR wouldnt go to redline if vtec didnt kick in....about 6k and it'd run out of gas and go f'u, I'm not going any further.

Do you have any CEL's? Does your speedometer work? Has vtec ever engaged?

If you think it runs good and feals fast, and their is no dip in power through the rpm range its probably working. GSR's have quiet vtec in stock form. Just take the top of the air box off and take it for a drive. This will really make the sound come alive.

Make shure it says vtec on the valve cover. cause it sounds like you may have a ls and just don't know much about integras. Not trying to be a dick by the way.

Did you unplug the speedo? I used to do that to save miles on my 97 prelude. And, when i did it noticed that the vtec wounldn't kick in.

Do us a favor, post a pic of your motor. And list any mods you have.

Nice find on the stock DB chassis. Vtec is smooth though, you wont hear or notice a real difference when it engages.....it will just keep pulling strong vs dying off and falling flat on its face. As I remember, the B17 does have a little more noticeable vtec point then the DC chassis, but its very very hard to notice.

I have read on other posts that it is quite difficult to hear the vtec engage unless you have an intake and/or exhaust. But if it is really not working or engaging at all, first try getting your oil changed and check for cels.

The absolute best way to "hear and feel" vtec is with aftermarket cams. I have Skunk2 stage2 and it is loud and noticable. Now I don't reccomend anything by Skunk2 but that is a whole different story. I/H/E will also help you hear vtec as well.

Sure, you can run a direct 12v source to the power wire of the solenoid and have it switched.....however its the worst idea I've heard in awhile. Its pointless to do so when vtec needs to engage at X rpm, its going to make less power to engage it at 2500 then 5500 like it should be. If you want to play around with the vtec point, buy a vtec controller and put it on a dyno so you can see the difference.
