Default Help on upgrading brakes

ok, so iv done some searching and really couldnt find much info to help me. basicly im trying to up grade my brakes some since i plan on doing some auto x and road racing this summer. both sets of wheels r 15s so there wont be any big brake kit going on. baisicly i was thinking, new pads, rotors, and maybe some SS brake lines.
from what i read Hawk makes some good brake pads. i think it was the hp or something, anyway, any imput about those or other good pads would be awsome.
as for rotors i was probably just going to go with some new oems, but i would be willing to get some differant ones if somebody had some that they would like to recomend if they think they are a little better than oem.
and does anybody think that stainless steal braided brake lines would be worth it, im sure it wouldnt hurt, but any imput and recommendations would me nice.

also when you reply if you could also say were you found the best deal on the product that would be awsome, i dont really wana spend more than 500 for this. thanks a ton guys!

For most cars(street) I would recomend, some Brembo Rotors, Good fluid, and Either Hawk/Axxis pads.

Im running oem rotors, Axxis ultimates, and they were a great impreovement over stock, and not to mention is stops my car with no problems(see #'s in sig). However since you'll be doing a different style of racing you'll need a more aggressive pad.

I got my stuff from Andie, honda-tech member, cant remmeber his screen name, but go to http://www.cobaltfriction.com and there should be a # you can call. Talk to him, and he will direct you to exactly what you need depending on your goals, racing, driving habits.

im got brembo drilled/slotted rotors for 190 shipped for fronts and backs... if you just want brembo blanks they may be even cheaper, i also got hawk hps pads, which are street but can me autox i would not recoment the hp+ because they are noisy- Revautowords << AIM or DaJellie on h-t, tell him i referred you.

a cheep and great brake up grade would be 11"rotors and calipers like those on the itr, accord v6, legend, and nsx
11" rotors can be had brand new from wwwfastbrakes.com for 120 a set and itr or accord v5 calipers can be had used for about 100 but if u can u might want to try to get the legend or nsx calipers which are 2 piston but the legen calipers are the biggest and best ones in the honda family

i myself am useing accord v6 rotors and calipers and had the rotors redrilled for 4x100

well i found brembo blank rotors here on h-t for $29 per front and $22 per rear so i will probably be going with those for rotors.

I would recommend the hp+ pads just because I had them They're not bad when they're cold, just a little noisy and crap, but they work great once they have some heat in them. When I auto-x'd with them, they worked really well. Now, I'm rockin cobalt's gt sports, which are about the same, but they work a little better cold, but not as well hot.

I recommend new rotors (autozone ), new pads (hp+ or gt sports), and new fluid (Valvoline synpower dot 3/4). That's what I have and they're wonderful. They're great for daily driving, auto-xing, mountain runs, and lapping days. I highly recommend this setup. I got my gt sport pads from Andie @ Cobalt friction and the hp+ pads from Coletti motorsports.

Axxis Ultimates pads
Brembo OEM Blanks (do not get slotted or drilled)
ATE SuperBlue fluid

All together this will run you about $225 shipped to your door. Look in the Sponsor's forum for current deals.

I guarantee you will not be able to outdrive this brake setup. If you feel the itch to spend more money, invest in a performance driving school to better your driving skills.

i went with hawk street pads and powerslot II dimpled rotors up front - no noise low dust very little fade and much improved stopping distance over oem - i cant remember exactly how much but i know i got them at tirerack.com for what seemed like a reasonable price - as for ss lines ive heard good things about earl's and goodridge which can easily be found on the net - i dont have any experience with them but i know im looking forward to getting some

ok, does (axle set) mean i need to get 2 sets for the front and 2 sets for the back, or just 1 set for each, so baiscly is it going to be $100 or $200.

Brake pads are sold in 'sets', meaning 2 sold together in one box (right and left pad). The Axxis Ultimate is roughly $40 per set.. so you'd spend a total of $80 +/- for all four pads.

Brake rotors are usually sold per piece. the Brembo oem blanks are abut $30 per piece. so roughly $120 for all four pieces.

Axxis Ultimates + Brembo blanks all around for $183.44 plus shipping. Add a bottle of ATE for $12 and viola.

so an axle set has both the pads for both front brakes, driver and passanger side, so i would only need 1 axle set for the front and 1 axle set for the back correct?

yes.. for the pads.

here is a checkout screenshot from http://www.importrp.com/
These are the parts for a 1995 Integra.

When you order online.. if you are unsure about anything, just pick up the phone and call whoever it is you are buying from.

I wouldn't recommend getting those lines for your street car, unless you plan on replacing them often. You might want to read this as food for thought:
