Default Help, Teg with Electrical Problems

90 Teg GS M/T 4Door

Power Windows......they work intermittently with the drivers side switch.....but work fine on each individual door....my guess for this one is the switch assembly?

A/C has a charge and everything looks to be connected correctly....but still no a/c.....

Whenever the car turns off the clock resets

When the dome light is in off position all is fine.......

When dome light in Middle position trunk light comes on

When dome light in on positon trunk light is on and clock goes off

When Trunk is open trunk light is on and clock goes off

I have no idea where to start but i know i need to get a Helms..... im thinking all the problems except the power windows may be related some how

If you guys have any ideas as where to start id appreciate it

thanks

~~This sounds to be to be related to the switch in the door. I would remove the switch from the door pannel, disassemble the switch if your able to and clean off the contacts, also do some loooking around, for corrosion and obvious damage. Also, someone on this board has a link to the 2nd gen integra Acura shop manual on line for download. Try and find that. If you get this, you can find the wiring breakdown in that particular plug. Once you get this, you can jumper certain wire combonations together with like a paper clip or something and manually roll each window down without the switch. Granted this will not work if there is problems with the wiring along the way. By doing this you can isolate the problem with the switch itself. ALso, while back in there with the door panel off keep your eyes out for any splices in the stock wiring harness used for something like an alarm, this could cause the problem as well.

~~With the car running, and the fan on, push the AC switch in turning it on and see if the compressor enguages, you should hear a "click" from the compressor. If doesnt come on in most cases is the compressor fuse

~~This is a 7.5A memory fuse in the underhood fuse box. At least thats what i would call it as. Did you install or did someone have an aftermarket stereo or alarm in the car at one time? Reason i ask is because you have to have a 12ACC wire taped for the operation of many funtions. IF this circuit is compromised then who knows whats getting F'd up. Check the fuse first.

~~Same is prior statement, those 2 circuits must be tied together and something, the trunk probably is grounding out somwhere and robbing current from the circuit. Try removing the bulb from the rear light and seeing if when you open the trunk if the clock goes out.

Again, let me repeat, these are just hunches take these suggestions as you will. And let m eknow what you come up with.

Good luck

i checked all underhood fuses and theyre all good......i didnt see a 7.5 fuse under the hood...but regardless all of them look good.....i dont know if it makes a difference but this car is obd0 not obd1......

well, the backup, or memory switch may be in the car not sure. Also, if you have DVOM or test light unplug the compressor and test that when you turn on the compressor to ensure that its getting power. Just trying to isolate a problem.

Do you realize how hard it is to troubleshoot an electrical problem sitting here at my keyboard?

trying to tell you things to do would be futile.

Good luck, try a shop, or come to Northern California, and Ill help you.

i have the same problem with the whole light thing...when i mess with my over head light switch it does the same things. i just recently put a new dash in my car and i didnt have any problems before this. but when doing the dash there was a hot and a ground running to the glove box. i couldnt get my hands to the connector and got pissed and cut the wire and never connected it because i figured it was just the little light in the glove box. my guess is that ran on a circuit to the trunk and over head light. i also left the cigerette lighter unplugged and it doesnt work. like i said i didnt have this problem before i did the dash so it has to be one of those two things. hope this helps
